Summary

I was an music educator with a proven track record of success in the Gretna Public Schools (GPS) and in the State of Nebraska, excelling in student engagement and student performance. I am highly skilled in team leadership and project planning, I successfully increased band enrollment and fostered artistic growth through innovative programs and mentorship, while manifesting strong organizational abilities and creating a positive learning environment. I was awarded the first-ever Outstanding Middle School Educator in the GPS in 2023, and my bands and individual students earned numerous awards and honors in my 38 years at Gretna. I was also on the Executive Board of the Nebraska Bandmasters' Association (NSBA) in the role of Treasurer. Lastly, I was recognized for my exceptional work in music education with both the Jack R. Snider Young Band Director Award and the Distinguished Service Award from NSBA.

From my role as an educator, I possess a strong work ethic, the ability to excel as both a leader of others and as a worker under a supervisor, and the flexibility to work with diverse individuals. For the past 5 months, I have been a substitute teacher in the Gretna Public Schools demonstrating my willingness to learn (and instruct) a wide variety of subject areas.

Accomplishments

    In addition to graduating summa cum laude from undergraduate school, I received several honors and awards throughout my public education career. I was awarded the Jack R. Snider Young Band Director Award in my early career. In mid-career, I received a Distinguished Service Award for my nine years on the Executive Board of the Nebraska State Bandmaster Association in the role as Treasurer. Also in mid-career, I was the only Middle school director in the United States and Canada to be selected for a conducting workshop hosted by Offutt Air Force Base in 2007. In my third to last year of teaching, the Gretna Public Schools developed an "Outstanding Teacher of the Year" award to be awarded to an elementary, middle level, and high school teacher. I was the first recipient of the "Outstanding Middle School Teacher of the Year" in 2023.

    My middle school bands won numerous honors and awards at contests over the course of my 38 years at Gretna Middle School We also had the highest number of students selected for the 8th Grade All-State Band for 18 consecutive years. I was an assistant director for the Gretna High School Varsity Marching Band who won the State Marching Band Class Championship five times and All-Class Grand Champion twice.
