I am currently a student at Southeast Community College for an EMT course in the fall semester of 2026. I attended UNL for a year studying criminology and found criminal justice isn't for me, but I did value the aspect of community service. I have a friend in the medical field who took an EMT class in high school and suggested it to me.
I am taking it because I am interested in working for a fire department and want a chance at Woodland Firefighting, as I have always had an affinity for the outdoors and want to continue learning about different positions for EMS/Paramedics. I have been involved in Boy Scouts since I was 5 until I stopped in high school to focus on academics and playing for the football and soccer teams. I knew EMT would be a good fit from the Scout background and lifeguarding (I don't know how many times I've trained to do CPR), but in all seriousness I am asking for a chance to be on this wildland service because I know I have the energy and passion to be a Wildland Firefighter and would love to prove it.
