- I am responsible for loading the furnace while maintaining appropriate gaps between orders, grades, and sizes while maintaining correct furnace temps.
- I am responsible for setting the pace while monitoring the mill for any problems, keeping an eye on the cold shear and stacker so if there are any problems we can stop running.
- I am responsible for having the mill speeds correct so we can safely run quality steel. I am also in constant communication with the mill adjusters about what the mill is doing and what I need to do when changes are made to the mill.
- I set up TWS for new sizes, bed lengths, shear settings, and nose and tail cut lengths and over speeds.
- I assisted on the mill floor during downtime and breaks.
