Understand each patient's treatment plan to guide patient interactions. Follow changes by attending daily change of shift report
Supervise high-risk patients and implement special status procedures such as safety observation, assault precaution, suicide alert, and fall precaution
Conduct 10-minute safety checks and contraband searches
Document patient behaviors and treatment activities
Depending on the safety concerns, patients can be assigned one or two staff members who conduct constant observation
Working with patients requires de-escalation skills and knowledge of coping mechanisms
